The Odisha Durneeti Shangharsa Manch (ODSM), an anti-corruption body, organised a seminar here on here on Tuesday where speakers discussed on the possibility of whether corruption in the State would decline if the gram panchayats are given more powers.
Former Minister Panchanan Kanungo, retired IAS officer Karunakar Pattnaik, Samruddha Odisha president Jatish Mohanty, State Panchayati Raj Department Director Debendra Prasad Das and social activist Sarat Chandra Mohapatra joined the discussion as guests.
The Panchayati Raj Department Director highlighted various powers handed over to gram panchayats and other proposed powers to be given to the bodies.
