PNS

Ending suspense over the venue of the upcoming monsoon session of Uttarakhand Vidhan Sabha, the authorities concerned have decided that the session would be held in the hall of assembly in Dehradun. The speaker Premchand Agarwal informed on Friday that after weighing different options it was finally decided that the session would be held in the hall of assembly building in Dehradun. It is pertinent to mention here that the assembly secretariat exercised various options for holding the session. As part of this exercise the chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat and the speaker had inspected the Veer Chandra Singh Garhwali hall located at the state secretariat on Thursday.

In an attempt to tide over the space constraint, the Vidhan Sabha secretariat is now trying to ensure that some of the members attend the session virtually. To ensure that the MLAs, ministers and officials are safe from the infection of Covid-19 the state government has also mooted the plan of having a one day session.

The Speaker Agarwal held a meeting with the senior officials of National Informatics Centre (NIC) on Friday and discussed arrangements for making the members attend the session virtually. The speaker said that arrangements in all the district headquarters should be made so that the MLAs can join the session from there.

The speaker said that arrangements both inside and outside the house are being made to make sure that the members, ministers and officers are safe from the contagion of Covid-19. The meeting was attended by the director Information Technology Development Agency (ITDA) Amit Sinha, deputy director general of NIC, K Narayan, officiating secretary of Vidhan Sabha Mukesh Singhal and others.
