Mondei, a anual cultural festival of Nabarangpur district, was inaugurated from Bhatrasiuni after performing a special Puja at the Sidhaswara Siva shrine under Nabarangpur block on Wednesday in the presence of chief guest Commerce and Transport Minister Ramesh Chandra Majhi, local MlA and District Planning Committee Chairperson Manohar Randhari, Zilla Parishad President Motiram Nayak, Collector Rashmita Panda, DRDA PD Dr Poma Tudu and ADM laxmidhar Das.
The chief guest lighted the symbolic torch, Mondei Mashal, to mark the
inauguration of the festival. later, a torch rally was taken out. After the procession reached the festival ground, the Mondei poster was unveiled.
Among others, local BDO Gunanidhi Nayak, Tehsildar Akhaya Khemdu, block Chairman Bedabyasa Bhatra, Municipality Vice-Chairperson Prahalad Tripathy, MlA representative Babuli Mishra and Jhadeswara Khadanga were present.
As decided earlier this year, blocks are not celebrating the Mondei programmes. The main celebration of the festival will be held at the police ground of the town from December 26 to 30.
