Former Minister Raghunath Mohanty (62), who has been lodged in the Baleswar Jail since Saturday in connection with the dowry torture case brought out by his daughter-in-law Barsa Swony Choudhury, is undergoing treatment in the jail hospital following shooting up of his blood pressure and pulse rate.
Sources said he was shifted to the hospital in the jail campus on Sunday afternoon after his BP and pulse rate were found more than the normal. He is administrated with medicines prescribed by the jail doctor along with the medicines which he has been taking for heart problem and diabetes.
“He is given the required treatment after being shifted to the jail hospital after he was found with BP and pulse rate above normal,” informed jail doctor Md Nurul Hussain. Mohanty’s wife Pritilata (55), who was arrested along with him, is lodged in the female ward of the jail.
