The Centre has put a burden of Rs 11 lakh crore in the form of various taxes on fuel on the common people. Still it is not satisfied. While the BJD Government in the State was agitating for small things during the UPA Government, now it is totally silent, alleged PCC president Niranjan Patnaik.
Petrol price in Bhubaneswar is Rs 78.18 and diesel per litre was Rs 76.60 with recent hikes. But on October 1, 2013, petrol price in Bhubaneswar was Rs 71.64 and diesel price Rs 54.60. At that time, the then UPA Government at the Center tried its best to keep the price rise under control by adjusting tax structure. But the BJP Government is not at all concerned and is busy making profit at the expense of the common man, he told.
In a Press statement, the PCC chief said petrol and diesel prices in the country are rising everyday in an unusual manner. But the Government of India is not including it in the GST. The BJP Government at the Center has planned to spend the huge profit from fuel price hike in coming general elections and purchase votes. But the common people will not let them to achieve this. This has been reflected in the just concluded Karnataka municipal elections, Patnaik said.
