Modi has influenced CBI probe: Congress

PNS

PCC president Prasad Harichandan on Thursday alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself has influenced the CBI probe into the mega chit fund scam in the State.

“Recently, senior BJP leader Bijay Mohapatra had questioned the impartiality of the CBI in probing the chit fund scam. Further, Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram also had stated that had the Centre firmly pursued the investigations into the chit fund and mining scams, the BJD Government would have been in deep trouble. It shows how the CBI investigation is progressing,” remarked Harichandan.

He said the CBI operates under the direct supervision of the Prime Minister. “A day before leaving for New Delhi, a group of Ministers had gone to the third floor (office of the CM). later, the CM met the PM in New Delhi. Why is the PM protecting Naveen Patnaik,” questioned the PCC chief.

He further told reporters that when the CBI quizzed Naveen Patnaik’s aide Saroj Sahu, the CM had met the PM and a deal was struck. Now, when Minister Sanjay Dasburma was summoned by the CBI, the CM too visited New Delhi and met the PM, he added.

“It is now crystal clear that the PM has influenced the CBI probe,” said Harichandan.
