Bnaki BJD MlA Pravat Tripathy on Friday appeared before Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) sleuths here in connection with his alleged links with the Artha Tatwa (AT) Group, one of the key players in the multi-million rupees chit fund scam in Odisha.

The Central investigating agency grilled the MlA for around an hour to extract some vital information over his alleged complicity with the tainted money collection firm.

Notably, the MlA was arrested by the CBI on October 31 in 2014 for his alleged role in AT case and had been granted conditional bail by the Orissa High Court on March 3 in 2015.

The CBI in its chargesheet in the AT Group case had accused the four-time lawmaker of receiving Rs 42 lakh from the tainted company in return for the patronage extended to it.

Tripathy, in the capacity of president of Odisha State Cooperative Union from 2008 to 2011, had used his clout over the Assistant Registrar of Cooperative Societies to register the cooperative society ‘Artha Tatwa Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society limited’ at short notice, the chargesheet had said.
