Controversy is raging in Nabarangpur district over job cards allegedly issued to BJD MlA Manohar Randhari’s father and wife under the Centrally-sponsored Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA).
While the BJP has demanded Randhari’s removal from the District Planning Committee as the chairman, the Congress staged a roadblock ton Friday demanding the MlA’s arrest.
Congress District Tribal Cell president Akhila Bhatara alleged that Randhari’s father Damburudhar Randhari and wife Urmila Randhari have been receiving wages under the MGNEREGA at Bhatigaon.
The MlA’s father and wife were allegedly issued the job cards as the beneficiaries of the scheme. Moreover, the MlA’s wife is a Government employee.
However, defending the MlA, Nabarangpur district BJD president and Commerce & Transport Minister Ramesh Majhi refuted the allegation as “baseless”.
