Arrested BJD MlA Pravat Ranjan Biswal on Tuesday moved the Orissa High Court seeking bail on the ground of ill health. He was arrested by the CBI last month for his alleged role in the Seashore chit fund scam.
Ever since his arrest, the 50-year-old political leader was complaining of bad health. From the Jharpada jail in Bhubaneswar, where he was remanded in judicial custody, Biswal was shifted to the Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar. When his condition further deteriorated, he was shifted to the SCB Medical College Hospital here, where he is currently undergoing treatment.
Meanwhile, the CBI Court in Bhubaneswar and the Khurda District and Sessions Court in Bhubaneswar have already rejected his bail applications earlier. Sources in the High Court said the bail application of Biswal has not been listed yet for hearing.
