Arrested BJD MlA Pravat Ranjan Biswal was on Monday admitted in the SCB Medical College Hospital after he was referred here by the Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar. A team of doctors in Bhubaneswar suggested for the referral as the 50-year-old political leader’s condition deteriorated.
The three-time MlA, currently representing the Cuttack-Choudwar Assembly constituency, was arrested by the CBI last week for his alleged links in the Seashore chit fund scam.
While on a 15-day judicial custody at the Jharpada jail in Bhubaneswar, Biswal complained of illness and was undergoing treatment.
SCB Hospital sources said the MlA, who had undergone two surgeries recently, is now in the trauma care ICU of the hospital and a team of doctors drawn from neurosurgery and gastroenterology departments are attending to him.
Meanwhile, Biswal’s counsel moved the Khurda District and Sessions Court on Monday for bail after the MlA was denied bail by the Special CBI Court. While the hearing on the bail application was over, the verdict was kept reserved.
