The city-based Manav Adhikar Surakshya Manch in a memorandum to the Health and Family Welfare Minister has demanded repair of the defunct CT Scan machine in the MKCG College Hospital immediately and to stop the siphoning of users’ fee fund in the guise of maintenance and repair of the machine.
In the memorandum submitted through the RDC, the Manch stated that despite a number of agitations, most of the time the CT scan machine is out of order.
lakhs of rupees is being spent for repair of the machine from the Users’ Fee Fund. But after repair, the patients are being sent to the private clinics by the doctors and staff, for which they have to shell out huge amount of money. In return the medicos and the staff are getting hefty commissions, the Manch alleged.
The organisation has sought the Minister’s intervention to resolve the problems. Among the signatories in the memorandum are Manch coordinator Abani Kumar Gaya, Prasant Das and Trinath Mahapatra.
