Police on Sunday evening recovered the body of Mukhiguda-based Upper Indravati Hydro Electricity Project (UIHEP) General Manager Narayan Prasad Meher (55), who had been missing for the last six days.
Meher’s decomposed body was found near a telecom tower, 400 meter away from the Mukhiguda outpost. Some passerby found foul smell emanating from the spot and informed police.
Earlier, Meher’s wife, Surekha had lodged a missing complaint at the Mukhiguda outpost under the Jaipatna police station stating that her husband went to office on December 17 and didn’t return home. She tried to contact him over the phone, but it was switched off.
Police are yet to ascertain whether the reason behind the GM’s death was due to suicide or murder. But the cops are investigating under what circumstances Meher died.
Jaipatna police station IIC Lingaraj Sethi said the help of a forensic team along with a dog squad was taken during investigation and the body was sent for postmortem.
