Missing Brahmapur man traced after 11 years

PNS

The Crime Branch police on Wednesday claimed that they have traced a person after nearly 11 years of his being missing. Gajendra Kumar Kar of Nigam Nagar of Brahmapur had gone missing in October 2002 and subsequently his father Bhikyakari Kar filed a complaint case in the Sub-Divisional Magistrate Court of Puri alleging that his son was abducted and murdered by three persons at the behest of Gajendra’s wife Gitanjali.

The Crime Branch, which took up the investigation of the case following direction of the Odisha High Court in July 2010, however, recently got some credible information on the whereabouts of Gajendra.

A team of Crime Branch sleuths with the help of the local police raided a place near Brahmapur town on Tuesday and traced Gajendra, said a Crime Branch Press release, adding that the allegation of murder turned out to be false.

It may be mentioned that following directions from the Puri SDJM, the Kumbharpada police station had registered a case of murder, criminal conspiracy and kidnap.

As the local police failed to make any headway in the case, the responsibility of investigation was handed over to the Crime Branch.  Initially, the Crime Branch also found itself in a tizzy as no lead was available to investigate the matter.

However, when no proof of murder could be obtained in the case, the sleuths concentrated their efforts on search of Gajendra. The CB release added that the police would soon produce Gajendra before court.
