Miscreants vandalise trucks, loot drivers in Cuttack dist

PNS

Unidentified miscreants allegedly vandalised as many as 11 trucks and looted cash from the drivers of the vehicles near Nimeisapur petrol pump in the Tangi area of Cuttack district on Saturday night.

Reports said the trucks were parked near the petrol pump when the miscreants threatened the drivers by brandishing sharp weapons and looted Rs 5 lakh from them.

Some drivers were critically injured in the attack. The incident is said to be fallout of a dispute between some local villagers and truck owners over parking of the trucks on the main road.

Later, the truck owners along with the drivers lodged a complaint with police after the loot incident.

“The driver called me around 2.30 am and informed me about the loot. When I reached the spot, the miscreants had absconded after vandalising eleven trucks,” a truck owner said.

“We had informed the police about the illegal p0arking near the petrol pump as well as from Manguli to Pasupati Gada. The matter was also raised in a ‘Mo Sarkar’ meeting, but no action was taken by the administration,” a local said.

After receiving information, the Tangi police reached the spot and started investigating into the matter.
