Miscreants on Saturday night broke into the Sub-Post Office at Anakhia under Biridi block and took away the treasury box. Later, police recovered the box undamaged from a place adjacent to the post office.
A complaint lodged by Postmaster Trilochan Pradhan at the Biridi police station on Sunday stated that on Sunday morning, it was found that the rear door of the post office was opened and the treasury box was missing before it was spotted intact.
Biridi police station IIC Niranjan Mallick informed that the miscreants could not take anything from the treasury box, but the post office had been ransacked and properties damaged.
Meanwhile, locals alleged that over the past few months the area has been prone to theft incidents and about 15 cases have occurred under the Biridi police limits due to lack of patrolling at night.
