In a horrendous incident, a six-year-old girl was admitted to the Capital Hospital here in a serious condition on Wednesday after she was allegedly raped by her 50-year-old uncle in the Infocity police station area here.
The accused, Kashinath Das, who was arrested, reportedly confessed to the crime under influence of alcohol.
Das is staying with his family in the Sikharchandi slum here. His wife’s elder sister, along with her six-year-old daughter and other family members, had come to Das’ house for a visit.
Das, a native of Masada village in Binjharpur tehsil in Jajpur district, works in a private company in the city. He had come home drunk on Tuesday night. After picking up a fight with his wife, he started beating her and their son, both of whom left the house and went to sleep in a hut next door.
Finding the minor girl sleeping, Das allegedly raped her after covering her face with a pillow. The girl lost consciousness and Das ran away.
later, the family members found the girl bleeding and called the police. The police took her to a private nursing home at Patia. later, she was shifted to the Capital Hospital as her condition deteriorated.
