Additional District and Sessions judge Bhagaban Pradhan has sentenced a youth to undergo 10 years’ imprisonment and pay a fine of Rs 15, 000 for raping a minor girl three years ago in Paradip under the lockpada police limits.
The accused is identified as Manoj Mohanta (25) of the lockpada area in Paradip. In 2014, police had arrested Mohanta following complaint of the victim’s parents alleging that their daughter was raped by the accused.
later, after investigation, the police had filed a charge-sheet against the accused in the ADJ Court in Jagatsinghpur. Basing on the pleadings of the prosecution and the evidences, the court found the youth guilty and awarded him the punishment.
The judge also announced compensation to the victim girl from the District legal Aid Board.
