The State Government on Monday again failed to resolve the demands of the non-Government Block Grant (BG) college teachers and took seven days’ more time for a next meeting of the Inter-Ministerial Committee formed to resolve the demands of the 662 and 488 Category colleges.
After the meeting, Finance Minister Pradip Amat who heads the Inter-Ministerial panel, told reporters that the demands of the teachers are being examined and a next meeting of the committee would be held after a week.
662 Category college teachers’ president Pabitra Mahala said they are hopeful of a positive decision soon.
“We have trust on the Government. Today, no solution came out. The Government has taken seven more days to decide on our demands. Our association will decide its future course of action after seven days without creating any problem in the evaluation of answer-sheets,” said Mahala, who was also present at today’s meeting.
Besides Amat, Higher Education Minister Pradip Panigrahy, Energy Minister Pranab Prakash Das and law Minister Arun Sahoo attended the meeting.
The teachers have been demanding a 50-per cent hike in their salary, abolition of the BG system and implementation of full grant-in-aid (GIA).
