Hold rally in Joda
The Keonjhar Forest and Mines Workers Union (KFMW), affiliated to AITUC, organised a rally at Jurudi near Joda on Friday in protest against brutal attack on labour leaders like Jagru Kattar, Rajaram Munda and others.
KFMW general secretary Maheswar Rout said on September 20 the labours of the union were sitting in a dharana demanding bonus from Rungta
Mines when anti-social elements of a rival group attacked them and left them injured. Several leaders were hospitalized. This was done to thwart the strike, Rout explained.
The rally came in procession in the area and assembled at marketground of Jurudi where a meeting was held. The leaders demanded immediate arrest of the culprits and restoration of normalcy in the area. Among the prominent leaders who addressed the rally included CPI State general secretary Dibakar Naik and AITUC State general secretary Sauribandhu Kar. CPI district unit general secretary Bidyadhar Mahanta presided.
