The BJP on Saturday came down heavily on the State Government for divulging names of the minor girls who attained motherhood while staying in the State-run Sevashram schools and hostels and demanded that the Chief Minister tender apology and actions be taken against concerned Minister, Secretary and officers for the offence.
“According to news reports published in various sections of Media, SC and ST Development Minister lal Bihari Himirika has revealed in public the names of minor girls attaining motherhood and subjecting to sexual assaults in Sevashram schools and girls’ hostels and thereby violated laws openly. It is disrespect for the whole of the mothers’ clan,” said BJP State spokesperson Sajjan Sharma and Mahila Morcha president Seemantini Jena and secretary Geeta Das at a Press conference here.
Sharma said while the State Government has, on one hand, failed to provide security to the victim minor girls, on the other, has tarnished their images publicly. Stating that there is a Supreme Court directive strictly restricting revelation of women victims’ names, Sharma said if the Chief Minister doesn’t tender apology and actions are not taken all concerned, then the BJP would be forced to seek support of law and protest.
Similarly, morcha president Jena said Himirika should be expelled from the Council of Ministers as he has committed an unforgivable mistake. She said morcha would soon approach Human Rights Commission, SC and ST Commission and Commission for Women in this regard.
