After a recent hike in the price of milk by the Odisha State Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation limited (Omfed), the milk products associations of the State have decided to increase the prices of milk products from September 1.

Cuttack Milk Products Traders’ Association secretary Pradip Behera on Thursday announced that the association would hike the prices of paneer (pressed cheese), chenna (soft cheese) and khua (candied milk) from September 1.

As decided, the price of paneer now would be Rs165 as against Rs150 while chhena would cost Rs135 as against Rs125.

Besides, the price of khua would increase by Rs20 to Rs170 from Rs150 at present, Behera added.

The move is expected to flare up opposition from the consumers who are already reeling under severe price rise in the State.
