Protesting the Ambasala chilling plant authorities’ negligence, hundreds of milk farmers and milk cooperative society members from Balikuda staged an agitation in front of the plant at Ambasala under Balikuda block on Saturday.
The milk farmers fumed against the chilling plant authorities and said the milk farmers have been deprived of Omfed-supplied feeds, medicines and other subsidised assistances meant for them. The authorities have been ignoring farmers and are not concerned over their grievances, they alleged.
Responding to the agitation, plant deputy manager HK Das talked to milk dependants over their demands and assured them that he would take steps to fulfil the demands within a week. Then, the farmers called off their strike.
