All persons who have returned from different States of the country including Maharashtra and Gujarat have been accommodated in the pre-prepared quarantine centres opened all over the district.
Fortunately, all the returnees have been behaving politely here unlike other parts of the State and are also cooperating with the administration and in-charges of the centres, a senior officer from the local administration said.
Although the district administration is not providing the exact figure of the persons coming from outside, but it is 212 so far and expected to increase as a few more trains are expected to reach Odisha within a day or two.
It is further learnt that total 1,501 swab tests have been conducted so far in the district and 1,221 have been found to be negative and the results of the rest of the persons are awaited.
But with the arrival of the persons from outside the State, people here are panicked.
However a senior officer here said that there would be absolutely no threat from the guest labourers as they would get no chance to spread the disease further. The moment they would get gown from buses and trains, they would be directly taken to the quarantine centres and hence get no chance to spread the virus to others.
Notably, the district administration has also converted some luxurious hotels of the city to quarantine centres where rich people can pay and stay comfortably.
