M'giri Adivasi Sangh seeks unity against Maoists

PNS

The Malkangiri Zilla Adivasi Sangh pasted posters at various places of Kalimela, Mathili, Podia, Korukonda and Balimela on Thursday urging the tribal community to get united against the CPI (Maoist) organisation.

Giving an account of the violence of Maoists against the tribal people in recent years, the outfit appealed to its community not to co-operate with the Maoists as tribal people are exploited and killed by the Maoists though they pose themselves as the savior of tribals.

The reaction has come when Maoists are on the backfoot after the Tandiki encounter on July 31 last in which three cadres of Podia Dalam had been killed and Bhejaguda encounter on September 19 last in which also three cadres of Mahupadar Dalam were killed. The tribal community of Malkangiri district is turning its back to the Maoists after these encounters. Hundreds of villagers of the Maoist stronghold area have surrendered before the police. On August 31, 121 villagers of Silakota under Podia police station, on September 8, 44 villagers of Gumkaguda and Intaguda, on September 10, 94 villagers of Perubai, on September 11, 61 villagers of Gumkaguda, Intaguda and Orelguda, on September 12, 58 villagers of Orelguda and on September 25, 79 villagers of Badiliguda, all under Kalimela police station, surrendered before police and declared not to support the Maoists further.
