Fighters Group, a forum of cancer survivors of Bargarh district, gave a memorandum to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik through the district Collector, Bargarh, for establishment of a cancer treatment and research hospital at Bargarh on Monday.
They said that Bargarh district is highly cancer prone. While every year of the around 17.30 lakh new cases of cancer patients added in India, 70 per cent of them are from western Odisha, while Bargarh district accounts for a lion share of them.
They also said that Bargarh is situated in the most convenient place of western Odisha and connected with public transport facility making it a fit place for the hospital.
local MP Dr Pravas Singh, MlA Debesh Acharya, BJP Bargarh district president Dr Arupa Sahu, Dr Ramkrushna Purohit, Murali Krishna, Pritam Singh and Debadatta Mishra were present.
