The Zilla Parishad meeting held on Friday was put to an abrupt end as most of the ZP Members staged a walkout raising various issues.
The meeting began at the DRDA conference hall in the presence of Gajapati district Collector Mansi Nimbhal, ZP President P lata, Project Director Rajani Jani, Vice-President Bimbadhar Nayak, all ZP members and senior officials of the Collectorate, including Executive Engineers of several line departments.
ZP Members belonging to Congress and BJP soon stood at their chairs and wanted to know why the meeting had not been held for the last 11 months. Some BJD members too alleged that the Collector has altogether forgotten to give financial aid to the poor tribal students for pursuing medical and engineering education as ordered by the SC and ST Development (Tribal Welfare) Sudam Marandi.
Some ZP members too demanded the Collector’s resignation.
Though the ZP President said she would soon meet the Panchayati Raj Minister Arun Sahoo and Marandi soon and apprise them the grievances, the opposition ZP Members staged a walk out, putting the meeting to an abrupt end.
