The executive body of the Berhampur Sahara Tali Anchal Milita Kriya Anusthan Committee (STAMKAC) held a special meeting here on Monday.
The committee has been actively advocating for the inclusion of peripheral Panchayats into the Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) for the past 12 years.
It has presented a memorandum to the 5T Secretary during his recent visit to Brahmapur last month in this regard. The committee's demands include merger of nearby areas into the BeMC ambit, besides creation of Brahmapur subdivision as a separate district.
Furthermore, the committee announced that preparations for filing a writ petition in the Orissa High Court are nearing completion.
The petition aims to declare Brahmapur subdivision as a separate district, considering its substantial population and vast geographical area, STAMKAC president Sanjeba Kumar Patnaik said.
STAMKAC vice president Devi Prasad Das, general secretary Siba Prasad Mishra, organising secretary Srikant Padhihari, assistant secretary BV Sagar, assistant organising secretary Ajit Patnaik, coordinator CH Ramkrishna Das and assistant coordinator Anil Adhikari, among others were present.
