Meet for young physicists underway in Puri

PNS

The 2nd Asia-Europe-Pacific School of High Energy Physics (AEPSHEP), a series of schools held in the Asia-Pacific regions in every two years, is underway at the Toshali Sands Resort near Puri.

The programme of the school is at a level appropriate for PhD students mainly in the field of particle physics.A total of 74 students, including 28 from India, selected through a highly competitive process, are attending the school.

The school, which is being held for the first time in the country, has provided an excellent opportunity for the students to establish contacts with young researchers from all over the world. It aims at providing young physicists an opportunity to learn about recent advances in elementary-particle physics from world-leading researchers. The school covers subjects, including different aspects of the theory of elementary constituents of nature and fundamental interactions among them as well as experiments to test these theories. The school, which began on November 4, will conclude on Monday.
