In a major decision, the State Government has announced changes to the Odisha Medical Service cadre in which the total number posts have been increased to from 5,389 to 6,719.
The total positions for the post of Special Secretary have been increased to two while number of Directors has been increased from five to 12.
In the pay-band 4 category, the number of doctors has been increased to 434 from 35, said sources.
Following the changes, there will be four specialist doctors at every community health centre (CHC). The CDMO and public health officers will lead healthcare services in the districts of the State. Similarly, at the block level, the Block Health Officers will lead health services.
