The State Model Cluster School (MCS) Coordinators’ Mahasangh would hold a mass convention at the lower PMG here on December 17, pressing for a three-point charter of demands. They demand rollback of the disengagement order of MCS coordinators and their reappointment.

Their demands also include CT and B Ed training to the coordinators according to qualification and their engagement in elementary schools as Shiksha Sahayaks (SS).

The Government had appointed 3,162 coordinators for 27 districts in 2003 to increase female literacy rate. But, they were disengaged from their respective duties in 2013.

The members, who are sitting on dharna since December 10, threatened to continue their protest till their demands are met, said Mahasangh State president Bishnupriya Das.

“We would submit a memorandum to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, the School and Mass Education Minister and Secretary,” Das added.
