MCl urges workers to reconsider strike call

PNS

The Mahanadi Coalfields limited (MCl) on Monday appealed to the trade unions to reconsider their call to go on a five-day strike from Tuesday.

Four central trade unions, Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC), All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC), Hind Mazdur Sabha (HMS) and Bharatiya Mazdur Sangh (BMS), have given notice to go on strike in the Coal India and all its subsidiary companies like the MCl, the CMPDI and the Singreni Collieries Company ltd. Coal India Chairman AK Dubey had also made a general appeal to the trade unions and workers to reconsider their call to go on strike in view of its serious implications on coal production and dispatch operations, which may lead to shortage of the dry fuel in the country.
