The Jagriti Mahila Mandal, an umbrella body of wives of employees in Mahanadi Coalfields limited (MCl), conducted a series of competitions in the peripheral villages to encourage rural women.
Besides this initiative to mark the International Women’s Day, the Mandal’s members led by its president Anju Sahay also organised a Holi Milan with rural women and girls to celebrate the ensuing festivity of colours. A large number of women and girls participated in competitions conducted at villages Regulatory Para, Durgapalli, Madiadungri and Kantapalli.
Anju Sahay also judged the performances of the participants and gave away prizes to the winners. She said that over the years, participation of rural women in these completions has increased. The Mandal is taking up CSR initiatives on behalf of the MCl to help poor segments of the society.
