A newly-married young tribal woman named Hirabati Hansdah (18) died here due to snake bite late on Thursday.
The condition of Hansdah, a resident of Asanbani under Samakhunta Block within Baripada Sadar Police limits, reportedly became serious on Thursday afternoon after she was bitten by a venomous snake at about 2 pm.
As her condition deteriorated, she was rushed to the local Pandit Raghunath Murmu Medical College and Hospital for treatment at about 4 pm.
However, the doctors’ attempts to save her life failed and she died later in the evening. Police investigation in the matter is now on.
