A controversial incident has come to the fore in Mayurbhanj district where a woman teacher sprinkles cow dung and tulsi water on herself whenever any Dalit student touches her.
According to reports, Budhikhamari Primary School, Baripada town Headmistress Tilottama Panda ‘sanctifies’ self with cow dung and tulsi water when any of the school’s dalit student touches her.
The matter came to the fore when dalit students and guardians staged an agitation in front of the school on Wednesday.
‘She sprinkles cow dung and tulsi water on her if we touch her while handing over khata to her. She has also told us to keep distance from her,” a student said
However, the headmistress has rubbished the allegations, saying someone has incited the students to go against her.
