The newly-formed Special Development Council for the undeveloped district of Mayurbhanj held a meeting here on Thursday. The meeting was presided over by Council Chairman Dr Debashish Marandi and attended by DRDA PD Tusharkanti Mohanty, Council Vice-President Basanti Hembram, Mayurbhanj District Welfare Officer Krupasindhu Behera, Council Member-Secretary Brahmananda Behera and ITDA PAs of Rairangpur, Karanjia and Udala.
Marandi, in his address, disclosed that an amount of Rs 40 crore has already been allocated by the State Government for developmental activities in the district. He stressed the need of accelerating the pace of progress in the long-neglected, tribals-dominated district.
