Gram panchayat technical assistant (GPTA) Akhaya Kumar Dash of Arpata panchayat under Gopabandhunagar block in Mayurbhanj district was arrested by the Balewar Vigilance sleuths while demanding and accepting bribe.
He received bribe of Rs 10,000 from Swarup Kumar Nayak of Arpata village under Khunta PS for release of the first running bill of Rs 4, 50, 000 in connection with construction of a building.
On compliant by Nayak, a trap was laid on Saturday and Dash was caught red handed. His rented house at Gopabandhunagar and residential house at Balabhadrapur, Salipur, Cuttack were being searched.
