Reiterating his demand for implementation of his ‘land to let or lease’ theory instead land to sell, trade unionist Mayadhar Nayak on Thursday rejected the Centre’s proposed land Acquisition Bill and challenged the intellectual honesty of Swaminathan S Anklesaria Aiyar’s recent article published in a national English daily advocating for land leasing.
“Since 2010, I have been advocating for land to lease or let theory and also published a book titled ‘land to let’. I have sent the book to all MlAs, MPs and Ministers in the country, Joint Parliamentary Committee, PM and President and lawmakers of the foreign countries,” Nayak told mediapersons.Referring to a recent article of Aiyar titled “Government should lease land, not acquire it’, Nayak alleged that the “article loudly echoes what I have propounded in my book”.
“The article sounds like I am hearing my own voice in a different timbre. But it shocks me a lot to see that Aiyar never bothers to cite me as the original proponent of this theory. This clearly amounts to intellectual dishonesty,” said Nayak. He, however, criticised the Union Government for its proposed land Acquisition Bill, citing that it would lead the Indian society to civil war and anarchy from which there is no easy escape.
