Results of the High School Certificate (matriculation) Examination-2016, conducted by the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) in February-March, would be published on April 27. This was announced by BSE President Daksha Prasad Nanda here on Monday.

While more than six lakh students wrote the examination in six papers that ended on March 5, the results will be published in a record 54 days; questioning the BSE’s purpose to be in such a hurry to publish the results.

“Admissions in Plus II schools and colleges of the State will not begin until the CBSE and ICSE (class-X) results are out. Moreover, the Plus II classes of higher secondary institutions will begin as late as in the first week of September. So, instead of being in a hurry, the BSE should have taken sufficient time to ensure error-free results,” opined a private college principal here.

The BSE has earlier come under severe criticism for the slipshod manner in which the HSC results were dealt with. Faulty evaluation, incoherent marks in objective and subjective sections and mismatch of marks in different subjects of bright students have always dogged the BSE as thousands of students make beelines at the board office here seeking rechecking of their papers soon after publication of the results.

But braving all these criticisms, BSE chief Nanda retorted, saying that this year’s results have been ensured foolproof. “Soon after the evaluation of answer sheets were over on March 22, we completed the tabulation of marks on April 19 by sorting out all the problems,” Nanda said, adding that an early publication of results would help the unsuccessful students to appear at the supplementary examination scheduled to begin by the end of May.

He informed that the result booklets will be opened by the School and Mass Education Minister at the board office at 9 am. The students can get their results online after 10 am by visiting websites www.bseodisha.nic.in andwww.indiaresults.com.

The results could also be accessed through mobile by sending SMS to 58888 after typing ori<space>roll number, Nanda said.
