People from different walks of life under the aegis of the World Human Rights Protection Association (WHRPA) and Utkala Bikasha Juba Parisada (UBJP) on Saturday staged a Mashal (torchlight) demonstration at the Rajmahal Square here in protest against the alleged ‘mass killing’ at the Bhusan Steel plant.
Holding Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, labour Minister Bijayshree Routray, the Bhusan MD and Niraj Singhal responsible for the tragedy, the protestors demanded a CBI probe into the incident.
“No other probe except a CBI investigation will reveal the nexus between the Chief Minister, his party leaders, bureaucrats and company authorities,” said UBJP president Debiprasad Prusti.
Among others, WHRPA State chairman Dr Abhinna Hota, Bijay Pradhan of Ekata Parisad, Pramod Dev, Ambarish Banchhor, Ganesh Dash, Bijay Karan, Sudhanshu Mohanty , Manas Jena, Sunil Rout, Kedar Sahu, Satyabrata Pattnaik, Silu Kanungo and Rakesh Mishra led the rally.
