A dead body of a young marine engineer was found in the office of a private company at Buddha Nagar under the laxmisagar police station here on Thursday.
Two persons, including the youth’s girlfriend, were detained by the laxmisagar police in connection with the incident.
The deceased was identified as Baijayant Prasad Mohanty, a resident of Cuttack. “The detained duo Sasmita Mohanty and her male friend Chandan are being interrogated to unearth more information in connection with the incident,” informed a police official.
Sources said Baijayant Mohanty was in a relationship with Sasmita. But the duo often bickered over trivial matters and were not in good terms.
In the meantime, Sasmita came in contact with Chandan at her office and developed a soft corner for him.
When Baijayant came to know about it, he approached Sasmita to apologise and resolve their dispute.
While Sasmita rejected his move, Baijayant forced her to continue her relationship with him.
later, Sasmita and Chandan hatched a conspiracy, called Baijayant to the office and allegedly strangulated him to death.
Further investigation into the incident was on; and postmortem of Baijayant’s body would reveal the exact cause of the death, police said.
