The CPI Maoist planned to celebrate its 11th year in operation in Koraput and Malkangiri districts in a grand way. It had started functioning on September 20, 2004.

The banned outfit celebrated Satabdi Utsav on September 20 commemorating the beginning of the movement in India and before doing this, it put up its posters across the Maoist-prone belts of Koraput and Malkangiri to spread awareness about its activities and outlined about its successes.

They referred to the Sukma encounter where a total of 76 CRPF personnel were killed and the Chitrakond water reservoir shootout where a total of 38 jawans had lost their lives. They pointed out the Nayagarh and Koraput armoury loots, Damonjodi hilltop attack, Boipariguda Mantriamba landmine blast where 11 BSF jawans lost their lives besides Narayanpatna and Malkangiri blasts and several other important successes of the outfit.

The administrations of the two districts sounded high alert and stepped up combing operation in which BSF, SOG, Cobra battalion and DVF personnel took part. The information network has been beefed up in the area as part of the precautions.
