A person was shot dead by Maoists at Chandanpur village under Kudumulugumma block in Malkangiri district late on Monday night.
The deceased was identified as Ravi Pujari. The reason behind the Maoists killing him was yet to ascertained though it was suspected that the ultras suspected him as a police informer.
The Red rebels also abducted another person named Manu Golori, but he managed to flee from their clutches.
Top Maoist leader RK was among the ultras who killed Pujari, villagers said.
Police have started investigation into the incident.
Protesting the incident, locals staged a road blockade disrupting vehicular movement from Govindapalli to Balimela.
