The district administration of Nuapada formally started the Sunabeda Area Development Agency (SADA) programme by distributing work orders for construction of houses under Indira Awaas Yojana (IAY) to the people of Sunabeda and Soseng Gram Panchayats of the district.
“We have distributed 214 work orders for construction of houses under IAY,” said Komna block ABDO Debasish Sinha. He informed that under the SADA programme, about 500 houses would be distributed among the people of Sunabeda and Soseng Panchayats.
The work orders were awarded by SP Umashankar Dash, DRDA PD Pradip Naik and the Sarpanch of Sunabeda Panchayat in a meeting, which was attended by more than 500 people of the two Panchayats.
Speaking to the people about the programmes, the PD elaborated about the steps to be taken for smooth progress of the construction. “The people will make the bricks in groups to meet the requirement of the construction. They will also collect other materials. The administration will facilitate the whole process,” said the PD. Some villagers of Sunabeda complained about the non-payment of wages under the MGNREGS. They said that more than `2.5 lakh had not been paid to the people for the works done during 2010-11 financial year.
However, the PD assured that henceforth the problem would not recur. “We are also collaborating with the Axis Bank for regular payment of wages under MGNREGS. The officials will come to Michhapali village every week for payment of wages in cash,” he informed.
