Reposing faith in the transparent leadership and pro-people programmes of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, hundreds of BJP and Congress supporters of the Dhamnagar Assembly constituency, including elected representatives, joined the BJD in Patnaik’s presence here on Sunday.
Those who joined the ruling party after coming from their area under the leadership of Dhamnagar MLA Muktikanta Mandal included Baleswar College of Engineering and Technology Principal Manmath Kumar Biswal, Jayant Biswal, Prashant Biswal, Ramchandra Jena, Swapnarani Panda, Ramakant Sahoo, Rabi Panigrahi and Natabar Mallick.
Besides, elected people’s representatives of Dhamnagar block and NAC and Tihidi block along with over a thousand supporters belonging to the BJP and the Congress joined the BJD.
The Chief Minister, who is also BJD supremo, welcomed the leaders saying their joining would further strengthen his party in Dhamnagar block and Bhadrak district. Party State secretary Bijayak coordinated the joining programme.
“I joined the BJD as I have been inspired by the transparency of the BJD Government and clean image of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik,” said Manmath Biswal.
Amongh others, BJD Bhadrak district president and MP Arjun Charan Sethy, district observer Ranendra Pratap Swain, district working president Jagannath Swain, Dhamnagar block presient Raghunath Lenka and former block chairman Binod Nayak were present.
