Many B'garh farmers left with unsold paddy

The Kharif procurement process in Bargarh district will be completed in three months but the problems concerning paddy procurement have not been solved.

Various mandis have been closed while farmers have not sold off their paddy.  On the other hand, the token period for farmers has also expired.  As a result, farmers have been unable to sell their crop.  In Padmapur sub-division, the problem is acute.  More than 20,000 quintals of paddy have not been sold in the mandis of the Lakhmara Primary Agricultural Cooperative Society under Padampur RMC.

Bargarh District Council chairperson Mukta Sahu went on a hunger strike on Monday in protest.  Many farmers and BJP leaders in the area have come out in support of the strike.
