Mancheswar GRP in controversy over theft of iron plates

PNS

The Mancheswar Government Railway Police (GRP) outpost here has landed in controversy as it allegedly freed a Railway Protection Force (RPF) Havildar who had been caught while stealing iron plates from the Mancheswar rail wagon factory on Tuesday night.

Sources said GRP personnel nabbed the Havildar and brought him to the GRP outpost at around 10 pm. But later, they declined that any RPF Havildar was caught for stealing.

According to an eyewitness, a GRP constable near the administrative building caught the Haviladar, who was trying to escape with the plates in civil dress and took him to the GRP outpost.

After a few minutes, a senior RPF officer reached the outpost and held an hour-long discussion with GRP officers. later, a senior GRP officer clarified that no such incident happened and no RPF Havildar was caught.

Despite repeated attempts to contact GRP Inspector-in-Charge PK Dalabehera, he did not pick up the phone.
