A rape accused was arrested by the Kutra police on Wednesday after 27 days of his absconding. He had allegedly raped his cousin niece, who is 12-year-old, and made her pregnant.
The girl gave birth to a girl child on Tuesday and her health condition is reportedly stable.
The girl studies in an Ashram School. Her father is a driver and her mother a homemaker. Her mother had lodged an FIR on May 18 that her daughter was seven-month pregnant. While the girl was at home alone in November last year, Bishnu Hesh (23), her uncle (father’s cousin younger brother) raped her.
The girl has been provided shelter at Disha after intervention of the Child Welfare Committee, Sundargarh.
