The laxmisagar police on Friday arrested a man and his son on charges of online ATM fraud. The police are yet to establish the exact amount they looted.
Meanwhile, Budhibaman Jena and his son Biswajit Jena were forwarded to court.
According to DCP Nitinjeet Singh, the duo closely noticed the PIN/secret number of ATM cards at the counters while the card holders are doing their transactions.
Following various complaints in this regard, the Commissionerate police tracked down the suspects after an intensive investigation.
“The two accused used to watch over the customer from behind and notice the PIN and later using the number they do online shopping,” said the DCP, adding that they were determining the total number of ATM offences the duo had committed using the method.
