Man opens parcel, finds cobra inside

PNS

To his utter shock, a person found a poisonous snake inside a courier parcel while unpacking it in his house at Rairangpur in Mayurbhanj district on Sunday.

Locals were panicked to see a cobra in the parcel. The person, who received the parcel, informed the Forest Department for rescue of the serpent.

Reports said that the consignment was dispatched from Guntur through courier firm ‘Agarwal Packers & Movers’ on August 9 to S Muthukumaran, a native of Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh, at the Rairangpur address.

While opening up the parcel that contained household items, Muthukumaran also found the snake measuring about three to four feet in length.

He informed local Forest Department personnel seeking their assistance to rescue the snake.

Muthukumaran said that though all the household articles were intact in the consignment, he was shocked to see a cobra in it. The snake might have entered into the box midway during its dispatch, he added.

Later, two Forest Guards of the Rairangpur Range rescued the cobra and released it into the Kucheibudhi Reserve Forest.
