In a tragic incident, a youth and his uncle (father’s elder brother) on Monday drowned in Ib river in front of the Bhasma police station in Sundargarh.
According to information, the two, Sastam Rohidas (55) and lochan Rohidas (24) were taking bath at around 10 am in the river as part of a ritual as one of their relations had died on Sunday. Sastam drowned first and was washed away into a hume pipe laid inside the river. Trying to rescue him, lochan also washed away into the hume pipe.
Though villagers rescued the two and rushed them to the Sundargrh Hospital, doctors declared them brought dead.
